We have been breeding with wildlife since 2013 and our species include Sable Antelope, Buffalo, Nyala and Bushbuck.
Šôkêng Wild uses a 6 spoke Wagon wheel-shaped breeding camp, each camp is approximately 20 ha in area. We strive to breed the animals in an efficient and safe manner, with as little effort or interference as possible and a solid base of good nutrition. Only one species is kept per camp, as competition between the different species can occur at the feed bin.
In each camp, there is a smaller camp where the water and feed are in mangers so that the animals can be enclosed if treated or examined. These passive catching enclosures in each camp are approximately 0.5 ha in size. The water and food are placed there so that the wildlife can get used to drinking water and feed in that area, allowing us to monitor them regularly.
Sales are done privately, using social media, local wildlife marketers and sometimes as an invited seller on some wildlife auctions in the region.
We have the following species on the farm:
- Blue Wildebeest (Gnu)
- Steinbuck (Steenbok)
- Grey and Red Rhebok
- Sable Antelope
